SAHO and HSAS met at the bargaining table August 26, 27, and 28, 2014.

Discussions continued related to HSAS’ proposals on disclosure, parking, premiums and professional development. SAHO and HSAS exchanged proposals regarding HSAS’ request for the additional disclosure of information used in the Market Supplement Program. It was agreed to continue this discussion at the next meeting.

On the first day of bargaining, HSAS simultaneously scheduled a press conference to address a news release that had been issued by the union alleging that, in the event of a labour disruption, the employer would be in violation of The Public Service Essential Services Act should the hours of work be reduced for employees who were deemed to have essential duties. SAHO responded indicating that employers were not contravening The Public Service Essential Services Act in doing so.

SAHO and HSAS discussed entering into to a mutually agreed upon essential services agreement should there be a work stoppage. Discussions were promising and work continues on an agreement.

HSAS has agreed to further bargaining dates, as yet to be scheduled.
