SAHO/CUPE Bargaining Update

SAHO and CUPE exchanged monetary proposals and held constructive discussions to better understand each party’s position.

Articles with Agreement in Principle Reached

The parties reached agreement in principle on:

• Job Postings
• Posting and Filling of Vacancies & New Positions
• Letter of Understanding regarding Utilization of Licensed Practical Nurses

Monetary Articles with Agreement in Principle Reached

CUPE agreed in principle to several monetary increases proposed by SAHO:

• Extended Health Plan and Enhanced Dental Plan with an increase from 3.1 to 3.7%
  • CUPE’s plan was underfunded so the negotiated increase addresses the funding issue.
• Shift Premium increase from $2.75 to $3.50
• Weekend Premium increase from $2.25 to $3.00

Working Beyond the Employee’s Home Location

The parties continued meaningful discussions on jurisdictional boundaries, distribution of work and contracting in to support patient and resident services. These discussions addressed the need to maintain service delivery where service areas overlap union jurisdictional boundaries

 SAHO appreciates CUPE’s willingness to engage on key topics and remains committed to constructive, solution-focused negotiations to reach a balanced collective agreement.
