The SAHO and HSAS bargaining committees met April 14–17, 2026, to continue collective bargaining discussions.

This session was both positive and productive, with meaningful progress achieved across key areas. The parties reached agreement on several provisions, including Article 9 (Grievance Procedure), Article 18.05 (Recognition of Previous Experience), Article 23.02(a) (Workload), along with a new Workload Concern Form to be included as an Appendix, Article 12.03 (Certification of Illness/Injury), Article 21.04 (Selection Criteria), and Article 25.02 (Disasters, State of Emergency, Public Emergency). Both parties also withdrew several proposals, reflecting a focused effort to streamline discussions and prioritize key issues.

The parties also exchanged proposals on several significant provisions, including Hours of Work, Truth and Reconciliation, and considerations specific to rural and northern employees. These exchanges have advanced the parties understanding of complex issues and positioned the table for continued progress.

Importantly, all non-monetary proposals have now been exchanged. While some items remain under discussion, reaching this point represents a key milestone in the bargaining process and reflects the substantial work undertaken by both parties during this session.

SAHO views the progress achieved in April as a clear indication of forward momentum and is encouraged by the more focused and productive nature of discussions. Process improvements, including a mutually agreed-upon agenda for upcoming sessions, have further strengthened the structure and efficiency of negotiations.

SAHO remains committed to advancing negotiations in a deliberate and principled manner, with a focus on achieving a balanced agreement that supports employees while ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of Saskatchewan’s healthcare system and the people it serves.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for May 5–7, 2026, in Regina.
