The SAHO and HSAS bargaining committees met May 5–7, 2026, to continue collective bargaining negotiations.

The session was constructive and collaborative, with the parties making meaningful headway on several important issues. Agreements were reached on Article 12.11 – Duty to Accommodate, Article 21.03 – Temporary Vacancies, and a new Preamble for the Collective Agreement. In addition, both parties withdrew several proposals as part of ongoing efforts to refine discussions and concentrate on key priorities at the bargaining table.

The parties also exchanged proposals and engaged in detailed discussions on several significant provisions, including Hours of Work, Classifications and Vacancies, Contracting Out, Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Payroll Errors, Reporting to Professional Associations, and Occupational Health and Safety provisions. These conversations provided valuable context and insight into the interests underlying the proposals and contributed to a more informed and constructive dialogue between the parties.

The parties continued to advance discussions on remaining non-monetary matters during this session, following the completion of exchanges on all non-monetary proposals earlier in the bargaining process. Ongoing discussions and detailed review of the proposals have helped further clarify priorities, assess operational considerations, and identify areas requiring continued dialogue.

SAHO is encouraged by the continued momentum at the table and the focused approach taken by both parties throughout this round of bargaining. SAHO remains committed to working toward a balanced collective agreement that supports employees while ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of Saskatchewan’s healthcare system and the patients and communities it serves.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for June 9–12, 2026, in Regina.
