SAHO/Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) Joint Bargaining Update – March 31, 2026

SAHO/Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) Joint Bargaining Update – March 31, 2026

Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) met with SAHO on March 30, 2026, to discuss an interim solution to the funding for the HSAS members’ Extended Health & Enhanced Dental Benefits Plan.

With the goal of ensuring that HSAS members’ benefits were not subject to a reduction, SAHO provided a proposal for interim funding to stabilize the Rate Stabilization Fund (RSF) to the twelve-month target range and provides  advance payment of contributions  to maintain the RSF for a period of time which should allow the parties to conclude bargaining and reach a tentative settlement. Employer contribution rates, as provided in the current collective bargaining agreement, will continue until such time as the parties negotiate a rate change as part of the total compensation package for this round of bargaining.

Importantly for employees and HSAS members, this means there will be no benefit reduction as of July 1, 2026.

The HSAS grievance on benefit plan funding that had been previously filed with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), has been withdrawn. Additionally, it has been agreed that with respect to collective bargaining, both parties will table any proposed non-monetary language changes within 30 days of signing this Memorandum of Agreement.

With the settlement of this issue and the commitment to table any remaining language changes for negotiations, the parties look forward to continued progress in these important negotiations.

The parties are set to meet to continue negotiations on April 14 - 17, 2026.
