SAHO/HSAS Bargaining Update, November 06, 2026

Union: Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS)

In-Person Sessions: October 26, 27, 28 and 29, 2026

Next Dates: November 17, 18 and 19, 2026

SAHO’s monetary proposal was presented on October 27, 2026. This proposal included the identified outstanding and deferred proposals that were understood to still be under discussion. SAHO anticipates receiving a response to the monetary proposal package and remains committed to finding common ground through the bargaining process.

The delay of more than a year by HSAS in commencing bargaining has placed additional pressure on the benefits plan, intensified market pressures and prolonged the resolution of outstanding wage matters. This delay has added to the challenges facing the parties and underscores the importance of making meaningful progress at the bargaining table. SAHO remains committed to the bargaining process and looks forward to continued negotiations toward achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.

Agreements Reached

  • Article 21.02: Posting and Filling of Vacant Positions
  • Article 20.04: Reporting to Professional Associations

Employee Health and Dental Benefits

HSAS recently stated that SAHO has refused to negotiate Extended Health and Enhanced Dental Benefits Plan funding. This is inaccurate. On March 30, 2026, SAHO presented an interim funding proposal to HSAS which was designed to stabilize the plan to the end of March 2027. HSAS agreed to and signed off that interim arrangement. SAHO worked to address the funding concerns and prevented any potential disruption in member benefits while bargaining continued. Further, SAHO's recent monetary package includes a substantial proposed increase to the Employer contribution rate.

Next Steps

The parties will meet again in November to continue discussions on outstanding bargaining issues. SAHO remains committed to constructive discussions and working toward meaningful outcomes.
