The SAHO Bargaining Committee met with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) on December 18, 2024.   The parties had intended to meet for three days; however, the later two days were cancelled due to forecasted heavy snowfall which caused safety concerns for the committee members who travel to return to their home communities. The parties engaged in discussions to better understand each other’s respective approaches to negotiating a collective agreement which addresses the amalgamation of the twelve former Regional Health Authorities into a single provincial health authority.  Both parties expressed interest in redrafting crucial related articles to provide clarity and certainty and avoid lengthy, costly disputes.  The parties agreed the discussions were productive and provided further insight and understanding for both packages and issues the parties must address.

SAHO remains committed to negotiating a collective agreement with reflects the current structure of healthcare, provides the operational flexibility for employers to meet the needs of patients and employees in a supportive, safe, and inclusive workplace.

We look forward to continuing productive discussions in the new year.  The next upcoming meeting dates are scheduled for January 7, 8 and 9 2025.
