The SAHO Bargaining Committee met with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) on October 21, 22, and 23, 2025.

This session was highly productive, with both committees engaging in focused and constructive discussions that reflected a strong spirit of collaboration and mutual respect. Together, the parties explored solutions that balance the needs of SUN members with the priorities of Saskatchewan’s health system, ensuring nurses are supported as care continues to evolve across the province.

Significant progress was achieved, including agreement on a series of important articles and definitions that strengthen and clarify the collective agreement. This includes enhancements to provisions covering Organizational Change, Mergers and Transfers, a Facility or Agency Closure and Conversion, and Technological Change, as well as updated definitions for Agency and Facility. Together, these improvements will guide future changes in the healthcare system, help retain nurses, maintain stability, and ensure seamless delivery of patient-focused care.

The committees have also agreed to add 25 additional bargaining days to the schedule, expanding on the dates previously established. These added sessions will allow the committees to meet more frequently, fostering steady momentum and continued progress throughout the bargaining process.

This round of bargaining represents more than the renewal of a collective agreement. It provides an opportunity for both the Employer and the Union to work together on system improvements that enhance patient care, support the creation of more full-time nursing positions, advance provincial programs, and leverage new technologies to increase access for patients and families.

As healthcare delivery continues to modernize, both committees remain committed to supporting safe, supportive nursing environments and a strong, engaged workforce.

Negotiations are scheduled to resume on November 25, 26, 27, and 28, 2025, and both parties look forward to continuing their productive and solution-focused discussions.
